Summer this year has brought some exceptional weather to the UK. The heatwave lasted for more than seven days, making the weather feel more like a Mediterranean country. Since I am from a tropical country, I am more used to warm weather than cold weather. I enjoy spending time outdoors, whether it is visiting the countryside, going to parks, or gardening at home.
While driving around the countryside with some friends, I spotted a beautiful field covered in bright yellow flowers. It was a Giant Sunflower field in Barlow. We decided to stop and visit the field. This was my first time seeing Giant Sunflowers in real life, and I was definitely very excited!
The ticket price is £3 per person, and you can also take home a sunflower for an extra £1 per stem. They provide secateurs for you to cut the stems, so you don’t need to bring your own. I took two Giant Sunflowers home so I can harvest the seeds and plant them in my garden next year.
In addition, there is a wildflower area next to the Giant Sunflower field, and you can pick some flowers to take home too. It was such a lovely experience, and I really enjoyed spending a sunny summer day surrounded by beautiful flowers and the countryside.
